How to Check a Washington Contractor Insurance Filing

Read the filing as a public-record entry, then confirm current coverage directly when it matters for a project.

How to check

  1. Find the exact contractor

Search the 12-character license and confirm the business identity before relying on any insurance filing.

  2. Read the selected filing

Review carrier, policy number, amount, effective date, Expiration on File, cancellation date and source update fields when present.

  3. Check the snapshot date

A filing selected from a daily snapshot can change after publication. New, replacement and cancellation filings may arrive.

  4. Confirm coverage

For a hiring or risk decision, request an appropriate certificate and verify it with the insurer or the official L&I record.

How to read the fields

CivaVero’s resolver is cancellation- and replacement-aware. It labels the deterministic result as a selected current filing or unknown, but does not transform the official expiration field into a coverage guarantee.

Expiration on File means the expiration date recorded for that filing. The interface keeps that precise label instead of presenting a coverage conclusion.

What the record cannot prove

A filing does not prove that a particular job, person, loss, date, activity, or claim is covered. It also does not show every policy term, exclusion, endorsement, limit, or later carrier action.
